Peace and Conflict
BICC

BICC, Wag the Dog: The Mobilization and Demobilization of the Kosovo Liberation Army (BICC, 2001).

This briefing paper assesses the experience of the demobilisation and reintegration into civilian society of KLA soldiers in the aftermath of the Kosovo conflict. By focusing on a number of aspects of the disarmament and demobilisation process and the rise of associated groups elsewhere in the region, the authors aim to analyse the extent to which DDR was successful on this occasion, and identify the major lessons that can be learned by international organisations making similar interventions in the future.
